QMS Services
Three things you should know about QMS:
  1. Of all the practices served by QMS in the past 20 years, 90% are still clients.
  2. The average member of the QMS professional staff has been with the company for 10 or more years.
  3. Every client medical practice came to QMS as a referral.
The best explanation for these unique records comes from Marsha Summers, QMS founder and CEO

Back in 1989, Marsha Summers finished her Master’s program and built on her formal education in Business Administration and Health Education by helping her husband, a young orthopedic surgeon establishing a practice, with all the non-medical aspects of operating a practice. In other words, all the crucial business aspects starting with billing and accounts payable. That was while office procedures were still manual and traditional, but about to meet the computer age and thereby, Marsha Summers became a pioneer in the field.

A fast learner with a ready aptitude, she established a company, acquired a core staff and clients and in the process became expert in medical practice management, medical billing, coding, accounts receivable, insurance contracts, payroll management, payables, practice valuation and potential, practice development, and evaluating training programs for clerical and professional staffs. She was soon responsible for management of more than $100 million in receivables. Soon, she was appointed to California’s Medical Group Management Association, the state’s Continuing Medical Education Committee, and she became a member of Medical Group Management Association, the American Association of Orthopaedic Executives, and has been recommended by the San Francisco Medical Society.

The QMS staff of highly experienced professionals includes people with expertise in billing, coding, claims follow-up, credentialing and contract negotiation as well as in computer hardware and software, practice staffing and lab and office equipment acquisition.

As Marsha Summers describes the organization, “I take tremendous pride in what I do personally and as a corporation. Our goal is to be the best and customer service is the only way that we set ourselves apart from other medical billing companies.”

“Our billing service is tiered. Clients can choose to send us fee tickets (charge slips), which we key into the system. We bill their insurance, do the claims follow-up (the most intensive part of the process), do payment application and disburse the client’s money to them minus our fees. If those clients wish, we can offer our appointment scheduling online.

“The next tier is fully integrated through EMR (electronic medical records) also known as EHR (electronic health records). This automates much of the charge entry, gives access to reports and other information we need to send or follow-up on claims.

“For some clients, we even serve as the business office for clinically integrated practices, medical groups and MSO-type entities. In these models we can also negotiate with health insurance carriers for better rates and responses.

“To sum up, QMS has multiple service lines…something for just about every practice. We are continuously examining and evaluating everything we do and how we could do it better. That shows up in the remarkably low rates of turnover we’ve had in terms of our people and our clients.

“If you are interested, I would be happy to act as your guide to QMS, our people, our services, facilities and capabilities. Please feel free to phone me at 888.316.9297.”
